Abstract
The Homebound elderly are those who are forced as a result of medical condition or old age to spent most of their time in their homes. Most of the homebound elderly experience abandonment, loneliness and fear. These situations often make them panic and become frustrated. As a result of these conditions, their sense of safety and security evaporates, which finally leads them to despair. Their inability to re-connect with their faith community also affects their spirituality and faith journey. The Hope Alive Spiritual Companion Training Program prepares volunteers to care for the spiritual needs of the homebound elderly.
